Abstrak

This study aims to describe the implementation of an active learning-based instructional model at SD Negeri 158 Palembang and to assess its impact on students’ learning processes and outcomes. The background of this research is rooted in the importance of innovation in education, especially at the elementary school level, where students should not only receive information passively but also actively engage in the learning process. This qualitative descriptive study employed data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research subjects included teachers and students from grades IV and V at SD Negeri 158 Palembang. The findings reveal that the implementation of active learning has a positive impact on increasing student participation in classroom activities, enhancing learning motivation, and developing social skills such as cooperation and communication. Teachers also reported benefits, including greater flexibility in teaching and improved classroom interaction. However, several challenges were identified, such as students’ difficulties in time management during group work and the need for more adaptive classroom management strategies. Assessment of learning outcomes also became more complex, as it involved evaluating not only cognitive aspects but also process and social skills. Overall, the active learning model has proven effective in improving the quality of education at SD Negeri 158 Palembang. It is recommended for broader implementation with ongoing professional development support for teachers.
